The National Alcohol Forum is hosting a series of three webinars throughout February exploring evidence-informed alcohol policy and responses relating to alcohol during the COVID-19 pandemic. Evidence-informed alcohol policies are crucial tools to minimize the harms associated with alcohol use. The second webinar in the series will explore policies for preventing and reducing the negative impacts of alcohol use, focusing on changes made to alcohol policy during the COVID-19 pandemic and their implications for public health.
Speakers:
Dr. Erin Hobin, Scientist, Public Health Ontario
Erin Hobin is a scientist at Public Health Ontario, a collaborating scientist at the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research, and has a status-only appointment at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on developing and evaluating population-level interventions for chronic disease prevention, specifically in the area of alcohol control.
Dr. Catherine Paradis, Senior Research and Policy Analyst, Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction
Catherine Paradis is one of Canada’s leading experts on alcohol. She joined CCSA in 2014 wanting to participate in developing and implementing alcohol-related policies at the federal level. Catherine is one of the experts responsible for developing Canada’s Low-Risk Alcohol Drinking Guidelines. For the past several years, she has helped establish the Postsecondary Education Partnership — Alcohol Harms.
