About Katarina

Biography

With so many affected by substance use health issues in some way, Katarina Kane takes immense pride that her work can have an impact and help reduce the associated harms of substance use. She has a passion for working for and with marginalized communities and finding equitable and valuable health solutions.

Having an opportunity to contribute to improving the health of people in Canada was a motivating factor in Katarina joining CCSA in December 2024 as a Research and Policy Analyst.

Prior to joining CCSA, Katarina previously worked at Bruyère Health (formally known as Bruyère Research Institute). As a research assistant there, she focused her work on the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging as well as the Prevora Clinical Drug trial.

Katarina holds an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Science in Public Health from King’s College London (UK). She is multilingual and can speak five languages. Katarina is currently learning to speak her sixth, by studying Italian.
In her free time, Katarina is an avid DYI-er and can be found tackling her latest project around her home.
