Cheryl has over 35 years of experience working at an executive level with private and publicly traded companies, governments, and not-for-profit and volunteer organizations, shaping culture, advising boards, CEOs and executives on talent strategy. She has extensive executive management skills, with specific expertise in strategic planning, total compensation, human resources (HR) and communications. She has led significant change management and organizational restructuring, succession planning and governance of large HR projects.
Most recently, Cheryl was Chief Talent Officer and Vice President, Communications for over a decade at one of Canada’s leading real estate investment trusts. Thirty years prior, she worked in the federal public service in Ottawa, holding positions of Chief Human Resource Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister at Canada Revenue Agency, Correctional Service of Canada, Treasury Board Secretariat, and Fisheries and Oceans. She also chairs Dalhousie University’s Board of Governors and has held directorships with the Atlantic Economic Council, Wyth Financial (Concentra Bank), Mental Health Commission of Canada, the Aberdeen Health Foundation and the YMCA of Pictou County.
Cheryl was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal in 2012, was awarded the Michelle Comeau award in 2009, and recognized as one of the top 50 Best Executives in the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business.
Cheryl is currently a Warden for Christ Church Dartmouth, N.S. and actively involved in their social justice programs. She lives in Fall River, N.S. with her husband Ian and her two Portuguese water dogs Alfie and Isabella.
Cheryl joined the Board in January 2026.
