Examines the issues and misconceptions around substance use by older adults. Experts contribute chapters on epidemiology, the aging brain, the consequences of substance use by older adults, co-occurring health conditions, screening and assessment, and treatment. The report concludes with a call to action that argues for, among other changes, age-specific clinical guidelines and treatment for substance use.
