Neil Arao

Neil Arao is the Chief Executive Officer of Options Community Services, a multi-service non-profit organization in Surrey, British Columbia. Mr. Arao is a registered social worker with more than two decades of experience with regional health authorities, particularly in mental health and substance use. He is committed to advancing social justice and evidence-informed approaches that support the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.

Mr. Arao’s leadership is grounded in frontline practice, a deep understanding of the social determinants of health, and an unwavering belief in the dignity and resilience of people facing complex challenges. Throughout his career, he has championed collaborative partnerships across government, health authorities, Indigenous organizations, community agencies and the private sector to improve access to safe housing, trauma-informed supports, and integrated substance-use and mental-health services.

Mr. Arao holds a masters of social work and masters of cultural studies, and remains actively engaged in sector-wide collaboration, policy dialogue and advocacy to strengthen Canada’s continuum of care for substance use and addiction. 

Mr. Arao joined the Board in November 2025.
