Ryan’s expertise includes strategic leadership in knowledge translation and mobilization, as well as managing complex, multi-sectoral stakeholder relationships.
Biography:
Ryan McCarthy’s career includes over 20 years building collaborative relationships. His engagements with senior-level policy makers, academic researchers, healthcare professionals and industry have led to many successful health initiatives at the federal and provincial levels.
A strategic planner, he has produced research and knowledge translation strategies for government departments, not-for-profit organizations and universities. He co-led a planning process to establish health research priorities for Nova Scotia.
Ryan has a wealth of experience to share in his role at CCSA. He has been the manager of knowledge programs for the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation and director of knowledge translation at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. He has also held prominent positions at York University, Brock University and, most recently, Dalhousie University.
Ryan has a MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from Saint Mary’s University.
In his spare time, Ryan is planning his next travel adventure and looking for new restaurants to try.
