Search the CCSA Databases

Acronyms and Abbreviations is an addictions-related inventory of acronyms and abbreviations that includes the full form.

Addictions Organizations
Addictions Organizations includes Canadian federal and provincial government departments, NGOs, and other organizations involved in the addictions field in areas such as policy, prevention, education and advocacy.

Addictions Researchers
Addictions Researchers includes individuals who are working primarily in Canada and who have been listed as an author or co-author of a research publication in the addictions field during the past five years. The database provides pertinent information about their focus of research and area of specialization,

Canadian Prevention Initiatives Database is a searchable database providing detailed information about initiatives that meet the Canadian Standards for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention. Initiatives included have been reviewed against the Canadian Standards by a national panel of experts in the field. Included in each listing is organizational contact information, a description of the initiative and which Standard(s) it reflects. Search results provide the option of a brief or full record display. Please note: A Call for Submissions will be issued in Spring 2010, after which time the database will be populated.

CCSA Glossary
The CCSA Glossary includes 15 terms that were identified during a scan and review of addiction literature from national and international sources. These terms and their definitions will assist authors in defining the terminology that they are using in their writings. Each term in the Glossary includes related terms, three or more definitions and sources, and, where available, additional information or explanatory notes about the term or source.

CCSA Lexicon is an addictions-specific inventory of terms and phrases used in CCSA documentation that includes CCSA preferred translations. Definitions are not included.

Education Programs
Education Programs offers detailed Information on university and college certificate, diploma and degree programs related to substance abuse in Canada.

FASD
There are four FASD databases currently being maintained by CCSA which focus on providing access to Canadian information and they include the FASD resources database  (launched in April 2002), the FASD trainers and training programs databases (launched in November 2008) and the FASD organizations database (launched in February 2009).

Funding Sources
Funding Sources includes organizations that provide funding opportunities for addictions research within Canada.

Hep C
Produced in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Its focus is on prevention, treatment and quality of life issues as they relate to injection drug users and HCV. Included are documents on  best practices and training, as well as research summaries, reviews,
guidelines and compilations of program evaluations.

Library
The CCSA Library Collection houses over 11,000 documents focusing on Canadian and international addiction information. It includes resources on addiction, on use or problem use of alcohol, licit and illicit drugs, and on other psychoactive substances. Emphasis is placed on "grey literature" or other documents not typically indexed in major commercial databases such as Medline, and Social SciSearch.

Prevention Resources Database is a searchable database that provides sources of information―catalogued by the Standard(s) they reflect―that can be used to aid in the implementation of the Canadian Standards for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention. This database—accessible free of charge—catalogues practical web-based resources that are searchable by the reflected Standard(s) each resource supports.

Treatment Services
Treatment Services contains detailed information about approximately 1,000 treatment programs throughout Canada. Each listing includes the addiction treated, the treatment setting, the target population, the language in which services are provided and a brief program description.
