  • 8th European Alcohol Policy Conference - Enlightened Alcohol Policy for the 21st Century

    Du 20 au 21 novembre 2018

SHAAP (Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems) and Eurocare (The European Alcohol Policy Alliance) are the organisers of the 8th European Alcohol Policy Conference (8EAPC), which will be hosted at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Scotland, on 20th and 21st November 2018. This is the eighth in a series of very successful European Alcohol Policy Conferences (Warsaw 2004, Helsinki 2006, Barcelona 2008, Brussels 2010, Stockholm 2012, Brussels 2014 and Ljubljana 2016).

Through the prism of humanist and rationalist views from the Scottish and European Enlightenment, which emphasised evidence-based scientific principles, the 8EAPC presentations will re-assert the importance of enlightened policies to bring practical benefits for the individual and society as a whole.

We are expecting around 300 delegates, and presentations will be made by Government ministers and officials, representatives from the World Health Organization, the European Commission and leading NGOs, as well as top academics and authors.

The venue for the event, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE), was at the very centre of the 18th Century Scottish Enlightenment and continues to promote innovation in Public Health, in Scotland and at international level.

  • 2019 North American Cannabis Summit

    Du 28 au 30 janvier 2019

The 2019 North American Cannabis Summit is an objective forum to address public health, science, and health equity in this time of expanding cannabis decriminalization, medical use, and legalization of recreational use.

The 2017 National Cannabis Summit, held in Denver, Colorado, was the first forum in the U.S. to convene a cross-state discussion of policy, regulatory, and governance issues related to cannabis legalization. We believe that continuing the conversation is important to establishing a public health and best practice approach to oversight and regulation of the emerging legal cannabis markets. We are excited to hold the 2019 Summit in California, a state at the forefront of cannabis decriminalization and legalization.

The 2019 North American Cannabis Summit will broaden our discussions to encompass the experience of not only U.S. state and local governments but that of Canada and Mexico as well. We will expand our scope to include relevant topics in the realm of public health, science, and health equity. Grounded in balanced and objective science-based perspectives, the 2019 Summit will not include an exhibit hall and has no ties to the cannabis indistry.

  • 26th Harm Reduction International Conference (HR19)

    Du 28 avril au 1 mai, 2019

For international visitors, this conference will be a unique opportunity to learn about the benefits and lessons learned from Portugal’s progressive approach to drug policy and harm reduction, which included the decriminalisation of the possession and use of all drugs. Since 2001, the country has shown us that decriminalisation partnered with harm reduction can reduce HIV and overdose rates and increase access to vital health and social services. The approach has also highlighted the gaps in this policy-first approach and the need to include people who use drugs in policy making and other decisions about their health and rights.

Held once every two years in a different country around the world, the Harm Reduction International Conference is the only global meeting for knowledge-sharing, networking, and discussion of best practices in the field of harm reduction. The last conference in Montreal in 2017 was attended by more than 1000 delegates from over 70 countries, including medical and policy experts, harm reduction practitioners, campaigners, and people who use drugs.
