Definition of Official Supporter

The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) occasionally requests formal recognition or support of a project, position statement, program, product, policy or service, with which supporting organizations will be publicly identified.

Official support is provided on behalf of an organization via a formal written statement, which often requires approval by the organization's board of directors or senior management.

In most cases, all programs, position statements, projects, products and services officially supported by CCSA partners or stakeholders will include the logo of the supporting organization, a link (often through the name or logo) to the supporting organization's website, and the phrase "Officially supported by [name of supporting organization]."

By providing official support, an organization will publicly support a program, position statement, project, product or service, and agrees to at least one of the following:

  • Share information about the program, position statement, project, product or service with their executive, staff, members and networks;

  • Promote the use of the program, position statement, project, product or service within their organization;

  • Incorporate the program, position statement, project, product or service into program or policy development or revisions; or

  • Post a link to CCSA's landing page related to the program, position statement, project, product or service on their organization's website.
