Prevention Evaluation

All youth substance use prevention initiatives and campaigns should be evidence-informed, tailored to specific audiences and assessed for effectiveness.

The resources presented here have been developed by CCSA to assist substance use prevention workers in assessing and evaluating initiatives and campaigns.

Use these tools when you want:

  • To evaluate whether you are reaching your goals and to improve the quality of your initiative according to the Canadian Standards for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention;

  • To assess prevention campaign messaging for youth;

  • To identify areas in your current prevention initiatives where ethical youth engagement could be improved; or

  • To explore new and emerging prevention programs and strategies.
