Canadian Executive Council on Addiction

The Canadian Executive Council on Addiction (CECA) is a national, non-governmental organization established in April, 2002:

  • To mobilize a common national agenda, together with other key stakeholders, that makes a difference to those affected by addiction; and

  • To provide leadership in transforming the healthcare system’s response to substance use.

The members of CECA are senior executives of addiction agencies that have a recognized federal, provincial or territorial mandate.

CCSA was a founding member of CECA, and the two organizations have collaborated on such research projects with national impact as:

CECA partnered with the Government of Alberta and CCSA to develop Finding Quality Addiction Care in Canada, a guide to help members of the public make informed decisions when seeking substance use treatment for themselves or their loved ones.

CCSA also partners with CECA to co-host the biennial Issues of Substance conference, Canada’s premier conference for professionals working in the substance abuse field.
