CCSA formed its Scientific Advisory Council (SAC) in 2007 to help keep abreast of scientific developments in the addictions field, to ensure that biomedical and neuroscience learnings are represented in CCSA’s work, and to connect key researchers and clinical experts in the field.
SAC helps CCSA create new partnerships and linkages with academic institutions, and offers an opportunity through its activities to influence policy and practice and to transform clinical and community programs. The council, which meets twice a year, also provides an ongoing environmental scan of emerging trends in clinical treatment and research.
SAC’s recent work includes leadership to support new releases in CCSA’s
Substance Use in Canada series.
