Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)

This is the site for CCSA's FASD Information Service. This service aims to be a focal point for Canadian practitioners addressing FASD by:
  • providing recent, accurate information on the important and complex issue of substance use and pregnancy through this Web section and through a toll-free telephone information and reference service;
  • serving as a gateway to other credible Canadian sources of information.
Because alcohol is the intoxicant most used by Canadian women, and because it is one of the most damaging to the fetus, alcohol use and pregnancy will be a focus of this section; however, information on the effects of other substance use during pregnancy is also presented.
