On July 27, 2007, the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) and the Research and Intervention on Psychoactive Substances (RISQ) Group formalized an opportunity to enhance their respective roles and effectiveness with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement that brings together the unique strengths of each organization.
RISQ and CCSA pledge to work together in a spirit of cooperation, learning and support in the following areas:
- Scientific exchanges on the National Treatment Strategy
- Scientific advisory network
- Knowledge dissemination and transfer, etc.
As well, to support the project Trajectoires de vie, trajectoires addictives et trajectoires de services : comprendre pour agir presented in the context of the Community-University Research Alliance (CURA) program, CCSA is committed to ensure the dissemination of research results and tools developed by CURA researchers and their partners throughout Canada, in both official languages. We plan to do so through our website, among other means.
As well, CCSA agrees to make some financial resources available to CURA to translate into English certain documents that have not yet been translated. We are also committed to collaboratively organizing seminars in regions outside Quebec where francophone communities are concentrated to publicize the work and tools of the CURA researchers. Finally, CCSA has also highlighted its interest in organizing a Canada-wide symposium by 2010 on subject matter selected jointly by RISQ and CCSA.
