Our Databases

Bibliographic

The CCSA Library Collection houses over 11,000 documents focusing on Canadian and international addiction information. It includes resources on addiction, use or problem use of alcohol, licit and illicit drugs, and other psychoactive substances. Emphasis is placed on grey literature and other documents not typically indexed in major commercial databases.

Prevention Resources provides sources of information, catalogued by the Standard(s) they reflect, that can be used to aid in the implementation of the Canadian Standards for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention.

Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Injection Drug Use includes documents on prevention, treatment and quality of life issues as they relate to injection drug users and HCV.

Directories

Canadian Addictions Organizations includes federal, provincial and territorial government departments, and non-government organizations involved in the addictions field in areas such as policy, prevention, education and advocacy.

Canadian Addictions Researchers includes individuals who are working primarily in Canada and who have been listed as authors or co-authors of research publications in the addictions field during the past five years. The database provides information about these researchers’ areas of specialization and research interests.

Canadian Funding Sources includes organizations that provide funding opportunities for addictions research and community programming within Canada.

Canadian Prevention Initiatives Database provides detailed information about initiatives that meet the Canadian Standards for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention. Initiatives included have been reviewed against the Canadian Standards by a national panel of experts in the field.

Canadian Treatment Services contains detailed information on just over 1,000 treatment programs throughout Canada. Each listing includes the addiction treated, the treatment setting, the target population, the language in which services are provided and a brief program description.

College and University Substance Abuse Programs offers detailed information on Canadian university and college certificate, diploma and degree programs for those wishing to work in the addictions field.

FASD

Four FASD databases provide access to Canadian information on FASD resources, trainers, training programs and organizations.

Terminology

Acronyms and Abbreviations contains an addictions-related inventory of acronyms and abbreviations presented alongside the full term or phrase that they represent.

The CCSA Glossary includes 15 terms that were identified during a scan and review of addiction literature from national and international sources. These terms and their definitions will assist authors in defining the terminology that they are using in their writings. Each term in the Glossary includes related terms, three or more definitions and sources, and, where available, additional information or explanatory notes about the term or source.

CCSA Lexicon contains an addictions-related inventory of terms and phrases used in CCSA documentation that includes CCSA preferred translations. Definitions are not included. The Lexicon is a tool for translators and for researchers who write in both official languages.
